Windows Marketplace For New Zealand Smartphones Soon

By Benedict Wee

Todd Brix and his really long title (Senior Director for Mobile Platform Services Product Management at Microsoft) have announced that Windows Marketplace will be open for developer submissions in 29 supported countries -including New Zealand- on July 27th. The opening will be marked by a developer contest, the details of which Microsoft will announce closer to the date. So those of you with creative minds and some tech know-how should start thinking of awesome applications to develop.

The launch time-frame of the Marketplace for us consumers will be around Spring (NZ) and will be available for Windows Mobile 6.5 enabled smartphones with support for 6.0 and 6.1 to be rolled out by the end of the year.
