Xbox LIVE Update Preview Program Now Open to Kiwis (and everyone else) (Update)

By Benedict Wee

Microsoft releases 2 major updates every year for the Xbox 360 and the second one is due towards the holiday season, but if you're the kinda person (like me) who wants to get the good stuff early then Major Nelson has announced that the Xbox team are taking in registrations for their Preview Program now.

All you need to do is sign in with your Windows LIVE ID that's connected to your Xbox Live Gamertag and fill in a short survey form with your Xbox's console ID and information about your Internet Service Provider. The Xbox team are looking for thousands of participants so the chances of you getting in is pretty good though Gold members will be given priority over Silver users.

The update will include an inproved user interface that will merge facebook and twitter accounts with your Gamertag and provide free streaming music via Last.FM.

Participants who are chosen will be contacted next week, the link to the sign up page is here. Good luck to those signing up.

Update: Those who are willing to wait or did not get chosen for the preview will get the new update soon after the press and previewers do. It hits 360 consoles everywhere on the 11th of August. The update also brings the Xbox Live Games On Demand service which allow you to download full Xbox 360 games like Assassin's Creed, BioShock and Mass Effect to your console.
